History
Fullham Football Club was founded in 1879 as Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School Football Club and are the oldest professional football club in London. Since 1896 their home ground has been Craven Cottage, only leaving it for a couple of years while renovations were made. In 1998 they won the West London Amzteur Cup, changed their name to Fulham in 1888 and gained professional status in 1898. After winning the Southern League Championship in 1906 and 1907 they were admitted to the Football League, finishing the season in 4th place. In 1949 they were promoted to the First Division, staying there for 3 years. They were then promoted again in 1959 and relegated again in 1968. In 1987 the club suffered financial difficulties. Jimmy Hill became Chairman that year and re-structured the club to Fulham FC 1987 Limited. In 1997 the club was bought by Mohamed Al-Fayed. In 2000 they were promoted to the top-flight for the first time sice 1968.
