History
When Blackburn Rovers was formed in 1875 they did not have their own ground, so their only source of income was charging members a subscription. In 1876, they were able to rent a piece of farm land, and then went on to use the East Lancashire Cricket Club for their games. In 1878 it became one of 23 clubs to form the Lancashire Football Association and then in 1888 it became one of the founding clubs of the Football League, finishing 4th. Ewood Park was bought by Blackburn in 1890 and they have played there since. For the first half of the 20th Century, the club spent most of it?s time between the first two divisions and was relegated to the third division in the 1970s. In 1992, Kenny Dalglish bought the club into the Premiership after 26 years out of the top flight. During the summer they bought Alan Shearer for the then record fee of £3.5 million.
